Malcolm Butler Situation
Despite literally saving the Pats from Superbowl defeat in 2014, Malcolm Butler, the star corner back, did not play one defensive snap in the biggest game of the year. He was given the cold shoulder by Bill, and we are not exactly sure why yet. But lets get one thing straight, I DO NOT CARE IF MALCOLM BROKE TEAM RULES.
Unless he punched a woman or burned down an orphanage, I don’t care if he was high or missed a curfew, benching Butler is putting your team in the best position to win? Are you kidding me? Bill is impeccable when it comes to his resume, but every once in a while, his ego gets the better of him, and he just can’t let it go. You think you can win the Super Bowl without Butler? You’re that arrogant about it that you’re going to take out your second best cover guy? If he did something really egregious, send him home. I’d respect that. You have team rules, he violated team rules, send him home. But you didn’t. So what are you doing there? It’s all fair to second guess. he should have been playing no matter what. It is the biggest game of the year, and possible even the biggest game of the Tom/Bill era and so sit a star corner back for who, Jordan Richards? Who by the way was getting literally destroyed every other play.
Malcolm just seems like he was not a favorite here in New England, and we see that from a few Instagram videos posted by ex-teammate Brandon Browner where Brandon bashed the G.O.A.T of head coaches and took Malcolm's side. Brandon repeated how most players would get warnings for simple team offenses, but not Malcolm. And another thing about these Instagram videos, the leader of the defense, Dont'a Hightower, put his stamp of approval on them by liking them. Will Bill lose the locker room or has he already? Only time will tell.
